Hole In One Insurance News from Hole In One International

Club Pros In Your Golf Tournament

GolfShopSign

Have any Club Professionals participating in your upcoming golf outing?  Great news!  If you’re insuring a hole-in-one contest, Million Dollar Shoot-out, or putting contest, you don’t have to exclude them from participating and/or possibly winning the insured prize that’s at stake!

That’s right: Hole In One International will happily insure any/all Club Professionals in your event!  Sure, they’re a little more costly to insure (3x the price of 1 amateur golfer, to be exact) given their skill level; however, when you take the odds into consideration, it makes perfect sense.

Did you know that the odds of an amateur golfer making a hole-in-one are roughly 13,600 to 1, while for professional golfers, those odds are lessened all the way down to 2,500 to 1!

Give your Club Professionals (and even Tournament Professionals!) a chance to win big with a single swing (or putt), compliments of Hole In One International… call us today at 800-827-2249 for a free, no-obligation quote and/or more information!  You can also email us at any time or even go online and obtain a quote, as well as bind your coverage!

Best of luck with your golf tournament this year!

Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament – Part 2/2

Welcome to part 2 of “Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament.”  If you didn’t read part 1 earlier this week, make sure to do so before continuing on.

4.)  Sending Out Invitations
It may not seem like it, but something as simple as sending out invitations can be a great way to advertise.  Make sure to personalize them and have them look professional.  Once you’ve fine-tuned the details of your golf tournament, you can then begin sending out those invitations!  You’ll be pleasantly surprised to see how many interested individuals contact you!  Be sure to have multiple methods of contact on your invitation — phone number, email, fax, etc.  Not everyone uses the same one, after all.

5.)  Give Your Sponsors Maximum Exposure
Make sure to properly advertise not only for yourself and your outing, but for your sponsors as well! Purchase sponsor signs featuring the sponsor’s logo (plain text can also be used) and whatever you do, make sure you know where to place the signage to give your sponsors the recognition out on the golf course that they deserve!

6.)  Discounts & Special Offers
Give your players an incentive for registering for your golf tournament prior to the cut-off date by offering a discount on the price of their foursome if they submit payment prior to it.  After the tournament, give players a similar incentive for registering for next year’s tournament on the spot!  And last, but definitely not least, don’t forget to announce if you’re going to be holding any sort of golf contests during your outing – especially ones that involve big prizes, such as a hole in one, Million Dollar Shootout or putting contest!

If you have any additional questions about advertising your golf tournament, or if you’re interested in insuring a hole-in-one or putting contest during your outing, please give us a call today at 800-827-2249.  All of our contest consultants would be happy to help you out!  You can also email Hole In One International as well, if you’d prefer.

Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament – Part 1/2

Looking to amp up your advertising this year at your golf tournament?  Hole In One International is here to help give you some ideas on how to get the word out about your upcoming golf outing!

1.)  Make a Website
Having a website dedicated to your golf tournament is crucial when it comes to spreading the news about it!  Be sure to visibly display when and where it will be taking place, a phone number and/or email for your tournament director in case people have questions, as well as any sort of contests/promotions you’ll be running during the tournament!  You also have the ability to allow players to pay for their event on your website via online payment services such as PayPal.  See if anyone in your tournament planning committee has the capability to set up a website for you — if not, there are some extremely helpful websites out there that will assist you in creating one for free, such as TournEvents.

2.)  Create Social Media Pages
Chances are that your target audience is active in the social media world, so make sure to create a Facebook event page, Twitter account and/or even a Google+ page dedicated to your outing.  Be sure to make mention of your golf tournament regularly on your personal or business pages and link back to the appropriate golf outing pages.  It’s important to keep everyone informed by making frequent updates (for example, if you’ve added on a few new sponsors or managed to grab a local celebrity local business leader as your chairperson).

3.)  Utilize Print Advertising
Print advertising is a tried and true way of spreading the news of your golf tournament.  Whether you plan to send flyers, create an online press release (which you can do for free through websites such as prlog.com) or put an ad about the golf tournament in your local newspaper listing, all are guaranteed to yield results and get your message out there into the world!  Be sure to also work with your sponsors to include information about your tournament in their ads/mailers!

Stay tuned later this week for part 2 of Hole In One International’s “Properly Advertising Your Golf Tournament” blog post.  And as always, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call us at 800-827-2249 or email us!

Touring Professionals At Your Golf Tournament

SandtrapJuliInsuring a hole-in-one, million-dollar shootout or putting contest at your golf tournament this season?  Have touring professionals in your event?  Make sure not to exclude them from all the fun — Hole In One International will still allow you to insure them!

The price of one touring professional is approximately 5x the price of one amateur.  When we take a look at the three hole in ones that were made during the 2012 Masters Par 3 Tournament a few months back, it only makes sense that they’d cost a bit more to insure, given their skill level.  Touring professionals are a much higher liability in comparison to an amateur player.  Did you know that the odds of a hole in one for amateurs are 13,000 to 1 while for professionals, it’s only 2,500 to 1?  How’s that for putting things into perspective?

Hole In One International also allows club professionals to participate in any of our insured contests as well.  While not as expensive as a touring professional, they’re still pricier than an amateur — 3x the price, to be exact.  But again, just because they’re in your golf outing doesn’t mean you have to have them sit out while everyone else gets to take a swing (or putt) for some major dough.  Nobody likes being left out … especially when it comes to being able to score a big prize!

Have any other questions about including amateurs, club professionals and/or touring professionals at your golf tournament?  Feel free to give us a call at 800-827-2249 or email us!

Public Golf Courses vs. Private Golf Courses

Debating on whether to hold your golf tournament at a public or private golf course?  Not sure which would be the best fit for your organization?  Read on as we highlight the main features of both types of courses and by the time you’re finished reading this blog post, you’ll be able to make some informed decisions!

Public Golf Courses

Pros:

  • Less expensive than a private course
  • Easier access to the facility (no membership needed)
  • Gives you the ability to find/support lesser-known courses and find the smaller ‘gems’ in your area

Cons:

  • Usually not as well-managed/maintained as private golf courses
  • Does not offer as many feaures or ammenities as a private course
  • More crowded than a private golf course

Private Golf Courses

Pros:

  • More features/amenities (i.e. showers, restaurants, private lessons, massages, etc.)
  • Better maintained and generally more scenic
  • Less crowded; higher chance of having the course to yourself

Cons:

  • Requires monthly membership fees; more expensive than public golf courses
  • Limitation of play (not as open or available as a public golf course)
  • If you eventually find that you’re not enjoying your experience, you’re locked into a membership

A happy medium between the two would also be a high-end golf resort.  These golf resorts will sometimes host charity golf events at no charge, so it’s definitely worth looking into!

Have any other questions about the differences between holding your golf outing at a public or private golf course?  Feel free to give us a call at 800-827-2249 and we’d be happy to answer them for you!  You can always email us as well.  Good luck!
